Cultural Objects
eTwinning Project
Culture influences every aspect of life. Objects also have a history and reflect a cultural perspective. Therefore, they can be used to document the lives of a people.
Some objects are special for its own culture. For example "evil eye bead" for Turkish people, matrushka babies for Russian people or maneki neko for Japan people are important things as folk symbols.
We must realize that it is not the objects that distinguish one group of people from another, but how people interpret, use, and perceive those objects. Understanding cultural groups prepares us to better listen to, respect, and celebrate those who seem different at first glance.
Cultural objects travel in countries and the aim is to learn what these objects mean for the country it belongs. The importance of using objects gives clues to discover things about the culture of a people.
